These are but a few of the memories my camera has stored for posterity. They are pictures frozen in time of a magical period when the air was filled with optimism and hope. In those days our idealism would (and did) win against daunting odds. It shields us from our fear and drove us to continue. Here is a stunning display of color photographs taken half a century ago by Marlin Levin capturing inspiring images of Israelis struggling to survive while creating a Jewish State against overwhelming odds.
