"A Star in the Darkness" is a rare book, in which suffering and hope, misery and salvation, are closely intertwined. Through the innocent eyes of a young girl of ten, the horrors of the Holocaust are revealed. The girl, naive and believing, is struck by the collapse of the world around her. She discovers delight in family solidarity and in the uplifting values she never abandons. The book contains stories in which truth, honesty, and above all, belief in the future, in the immortality of the Jewish people and dispel and despair. The book is well written, its style is interesting, and a vein of humor runs through it. The difficult and shocking subject, the experiences of a young Jewish girl in the holocaust, is transformed in the hands of the author into a fascinating and breathtaking book, by virtue of the love of life which resounds through it. The language is charming and makes the book easy to read it. There is no doubt in my mind that this book, rich in educational value and written in a fascinating literary style, has a great future ahead of it. The darkness has, thank heaven, been dispersed, and what is left in our hands is a book which is light!
