Raising A Jewish Child

At last, an inspired translating of Rabbi Shlomo Wolbe's acclaimed Hebrew work on educating children, Zeri'ah u'Benyan be'Chinuch. Culled from Rav Wolbe's lectures on the subject, this book emphasizes the importance of parents assuming full responsibility for the raising of each of their children, as well as the delicate balance needed between planting in a child the seeds of Torah values and behavior that will grow along with them, and externally guiding the child along the proper path. Accomplishing this important mission requires great patience and warmth, along with an honest look at our own motivations and behavior. Rabbi Shlomo Wolbe is one of the leading Torah authorities in our generation and the author of numerous classic works. He studied at the Mir Yeshiva, under the mashgiach Rabbi Yerucham Levovitz, in the years preceding World War ll. At the outbreak of the war, he was sent by Agudas Yisrael to Stockholm, where he devoted eight years to hatzalas nefashos and chinuch. He then made his home in Eretz Yisrael, where the Chazon Ish appointed him mashgiach of the Be'er Yaakov yeshiva. There, he educated and guided talmidim for over three decades. Today, a vast number of those talmidim have gone on to become rabbis, educators, mashgichim, and individuals devoted to work in kiruv. Rabbi Wolbe continues to guide thousands through his weekly lectures at numerous major yeshivos in Jerusalem.
