The Book of Job

The Book of Job asks, "Why suffering? The Book supplies five answers. The Book of Job critically explores the problem of suffering and evil in the world. The popular explanation of suffering and evil is challenged by Job. The concept that suffering comes as punishment for wickedness conflicts with the reality of life. What, then, is the answer to the problem of human suffering? This book has great appeal because many people feel that they suffer without knowing the reason for their pain. People seeking a reason for their suffering or for evil in the world will greatly benefit by a study of Job. For easier reading, I have translated the book from the original Hebrew. To facilitate the understanding I have arranged the books into logical units and divisions, with an introductory note before each unit. I then present the newly translated text, followed by my commentary, parables and anecdotes.
