Description: The text on this challah cover comes from a Kabbalah inspired kavanah or intentional prayer. This prayer is recited before kiddush to help one recite the blessing with full focus and intentionality.
The text was painted onto the straw colored silk with square tipped brushes. Two pots of paint were utilized one with bronze colored paints and the other with iridescent blue. The text was painted alternating between the colors creating a shimmering shifting mass of text.the center panel was further embellished with a stylized vine and berry motif.
The piece is bordered with lavender cotton velveteen and bound with vintage velvet ribbon from the 1950's. the ribbon has been top-stitched with a scallop stitch that echoes the pained vine motif.
