The Indian gold brocade used int his piece is a reference to our historical connection to fine exotics silks. The text has been calligraphed freehand onto the lavender ottoman silk with the lovely ribbed surface. The letters have been calligraphed freehand and then further embellished in the manner of old world manuscripts. The motif for the meandering vine was used extensively in manuscripts and decorative objects created along the Silk Road and brought back to the West.
