Description: From the z'mirot series Zmirot are liturgical poems that are sung as part of the Shabbat meals. Tzur Mi shelo Achalnu is usually sung just before birkat Ha mazon, grace after meals. Each verse of the poem is a poetic summary of a paragraph of Birkat Ha mazon. The text was painted freehand onto the linen using a square tipped brush and custom mixed paints. Two pots of paints were used one with bronze paints and the other with and iridescent blue. This alternation of colors using the same brush means that the color of the lettering shifts throughout the text. The initial words of the poem are painted in a larger size int he center of the piece and then further embellished. The border fabric was chosen because it features all of the colors in the central panel. The challah cover is bound with vintage millenery grosgrain ribbon in a periwinkle blue and top stitched with a diamond stitch with gold metallic thread.
As with all of Ms Jacob's pieces, this is one of a kind.
