One of the texts traditionally recited before the Shabbat meals describes the Shabbat meals as being Seudata d'Malka,the royal feast.. The centerpiece of this challah cover is made out of heavy silk satin hand painted with the words 'seudata d'malka. The words have been painted with a square tipped paintbrush in textile paints enriched with powdered metal. The crown is based on traditional antique Torah crowns in mixed media including paint, hand and machine embroidery, hand stiched vintage sequins and an antique button. The red lined border has been both painted and stiched to create the royal pattern. The final border isa linen look mixed fiber (probably a rayon blend)The challah cover is bound with a vintage black velvet ribbon embroidered into place with blue metallic decorative embroidery. A one of a kind piece signed by the artist.
