As with his commentary on 'Genesis' this commentary on 'Exodus' consists in a number of small essays on each weekly Parsha, or reading of the Torah. Rabbi Sacks brings both philosophical depth and inspiring Torah learning to the task. I find myself reading this book a few essays, usually a Parsha at a time. I come away from each reading with a stronger sense of Faith and Hope.
'Exodus' is the great book of Jewish liberation, and Rabbi Sacks shows how this liberation has been emblematic for Mankind.
He draws on many great Biblical teachers including Rabbi Joseph Dov Ber Soloveitchik in demonstrating how 'freedom' is a central concept of Judaism.
I believe every reader who cares not only about Judaism and the spiritual future of mankind would benefit from reading and studying this work.
