The Path to Perfection

The Mesillas Yesharim uniquely emphasizes sheleimus - perfection. You don't find this in other sefarim. Some people say, "Who needs perfection? We are here to serve Hashem. That's all." But we are learning here that Hashem wants us to serve Him by acquiring sheleimus. He wants our perfection; that is the way we serve Him. However, we have to know that... there are many things that are considered mitzvos by Hashem that don't appear to us as mitzvos, and therefore most of the avodah and the mitzvos are not things that people know about. So it's not enough merely to learn these words, but you have to know that there is a job. Our task is to find out what all of the mitzvos are, and what is the avodah that can help a person arrive at true perfection.
