From Sorrow To Celebration

Tisha B’Av. These periods resonate with themes of mourning, tragedy, and destruction. But then comes Tu B’Av, bringing comfort, joy, and celebration; a festival unparalleled in its significance. As believing Jews, we understand that the seeds of joy and rebirth are often found in our darkest, most painful moments. Yet, it takes a genius of optimism and emunah like Rabbi Paysach Krohn to guide us in finding positivity without diminishing the pain of the Churban. In his extraordinary book, From Sorrow to Celebration, Rabbi Krohn masterfully shares compelling divrei Torah along with dozens of poignant and uplifting stories. These stories open new vistas of Ahavas Hashem, Ahavas HaTorah, and Ahavas Yisrael. They showcase the profound power of our prayers and tears, and the tremendous opportunities that teshuvah offers us. This book enriches our understanding of the Three Weeks, the Nine Days, Tishah B’Av, and Megillas Eichah. And then, as we transition from sorrow to celebration, Rabbi Krohn presents fascinating sections on the Beis HaMikdash, Ahavas Yisrael, Shabbos Nachamu, Mashiach and Geulah, and the joyous day of Tu B’Av. A unique section of the book features brief biographies and riveting stories of gedolim whose yahrzeits fall between the Three Weeks and Tu B’Av, including Rashi, the Arizal, and Rav Elyashiv. These accounts add yet another layer of inspiration during these sorrow-filled months. From Sorrow to Celebration is about cleansing our sadness and embracing the possibility of rebuilding—both the Beis HaMikdash and ourselves. It is about the tears we shed and the laughter that follows those tears.
