“I think it would have been harder for me if we’d have pushed off the wedding.” Michal is coping with a challenge now, true. But pushing off a wedding two weeks before it’s scheduled to an unknown date is also a challenge.
“That’s what you think?” He was sure it was hard for her.
“What difference does it make what I think? If this is what Hashem chose, then that’s what is best for both of us.” She’s been repeating this to herself at least ten times a day.
“And it’s not hard for you?” And she doesn’t even know everything yet.
“Did I say it’s not hard?”

“This is how it is in the beginning, and then it gets better? Is that what the doctor said?” Yankel tries to understand.
“This is how it is in the beginning, yes.” And in the middle and the end, in his case, but she can’t take his hope away.
“And in the end, it’ll be okay?” He looks at Pessia expectantly.
“B’ezras Hashem,” she smiles and nods. “Everything will be okay in the end.” At the end of this long galus, when Mashiach comes.

“Have a freilichen Chanukah, Sheiny. Daven for us, for a Chanukah miracle, okay?”
“We already agreed on that, right?” Sheiny smiles.
“We did.” Malka nods at her husband, smiling. “Besuros tovos, Sheiny.”
“Amen,” Sheiny whispers to the closed door, and stands at a distance, observing the gorgeous family behind the window.
She whispers “Amen” to one brachah, that comes out a little choppy.
And another “Amen” to the miracles bayamim haheim bazman hazeh.
And five ready-made wicks burst into flame, one after the next.
