Echoes of Rashi: Bereishit

For nearly a thousand years, Rashi has been the gateway through which Jews have encountered the Torah. His renowned commentary illuminates the Torah’s language, grammar, and literary flow while weaving together peshat and derash. Beneath those explanations lies a sweeping religious worldview that has shaped generations of Torah study and Jewish life. Echoes of Rashi uncovers the enduring religious vision embedded within the Torah’s most influential commentary, revealing its continuing relevance to contemporary Jewish life. Building upon Rashi’s commentary, these essays – based on shiurim originally delivered at Yeshivat Har Etzion – explore themes of avodas Hashem, moral responsibility, Jewish identity, and our return to Eretz Yisrael. They demonstrate why Rashi remains central to the study of Torah and to the formation of Jewish faith, identity, and destiny.
