The Kings Confidant #1 - Comics

The flames consuming the shul have long died down. Long ago, the wind carried
away the wild cries of the marauders. His father's tear-filled eyes closed for the
last time years ago.
But Reb Berman Lehmann cannot forget.
Thirty years later, he is a talmid chacharm, a yirei Shamayim, and a successful
banker, and those events still remain with him.
They are with him when he is taken to the district jail.
They flicker within him when he stands up to General Marwitz's ferocious bear.
They protect him against the influence of the ambitious Prince of Saxony and his
court.
And they travel with him on desolate and dangerous roads when it seems that all
is lost.

The Kingdom of Poland is going through a period of turmoil, and its merciless
effects reach all the way to the Jewish community of Halberstadt. When the King
dies, Reb Berman's life is turned on its head.

Rival princes compete for the throne, and the fight turns deadly. Reb Berman finds
himself working for the prince known as Augustus the Strong. Augustus won't
compromise, and the Jew-hating Prince Lubomirski casts out a net to trap Reb
Berman and remove him from the picture in order to capture the throne.

Interweaving drama with confirmed biographical facts. The King's Confidant is
a new adaptation of Rabbi Meir (Marcus) Lehmann's novel The Royal Resident,
which tells the story of his ancestor Reb Yissachar Berman Lehmann, the legendary
Court Jew who built the Great Synagogue of Halberstadt.
